    Classified Positions

    Classified positions include the following:
    • Secretary
    • Teacher Assistant 
    • Maintenance Worker
    • Custodian/Janitor
    • Mechanic
    • Cafeteria Worker/Manager
    • Other: (i.e. volunteer)

    Substitute Teacher

    1. Be a minimum of 18 years of age (21 years of age preferred);
    2. Possess good moral character;
    3. Have earned a high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED);
    4. Attend an orientation to school policies and procedures conducted by the local school division;
    5. Be free of communicable tuberculosis; and
    6. Pass required background checks.

    The Appomattox County School Board shall seek to employ substitute teachers who exceed these requirements.

    Your application will remain active for one year.  At that time, the application will be moved to an inactive status until written request to reactivate your application is received in the Human Resources Office.  Applications will be destroyed after three years of inactive status.
