    The 2018-19 Winter Sports Regular Season finished February 8.  Here is a recap of how the teams did this season.

    The Girls Basketball Team finished the regular season in 6th place in the Dogwood District.   The team is ranked 6th in the East Sub-Region of the Region 2C Tournament and will play in the first round on Feb. 18th against Nelson County at Nelson County.

    The Boys Basketball Team finished the regular season in either third or fourth place in the Dogwood District.  They will play away in the First Round of the Dogwood District Tournament, at either Gretna or Dan River on Wednesday, Feb. 13th.    The team was ranked 3rd in East Sub-Region of the Region 2C Tournament.  They will play Chatham in the first round at home on Monday, Feb. 18th.  Game time has not been determined.

    The Girls and Boys Swim Teams did great in regional competition.  On Feb. 7th the Swim Teams competed in their Region 2C Championships at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center.  The Boy’s Team finished 3rd overall, while the Girls Team finished 6th overall. The following Swim Team members qualified for the State Championships which are being held at the Swim RVA-Collegiate Aquatics Center in Richmond on Thursday, Feb. 14:  Josh Ellis, Chris Richardson, Harry Thomas, Jackson Cheatham, Alie Carrico, Abby Ranson, along with three of the relay teams.

    The Wrestling Team competed in the Region 2C Wrestling Tournament on Saturday, February 9th at James River High School.   Pierce Bryant was Region 2C Champion.  The team qualified 5 wrestlers for states, and will be wrestling at the Salem Civic Center on Feb. 15th and 16th.

    Also, on Friday February 15th the Appomattox County High School Track will compete in their Region 2C Championships at Roanoke College.  The ACHS Track Team has numerous athletes competing in the Regional Championship, with some already having met the State Championship qualifying standards.  The State Championship will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 20 & 21 at Roanoke College.

    The Scholastic Bowl Team competed in the Dogwood District Tournament on Jan. 20th at Galileo Magnet School in Danville.   This year the tournament was a double-elimination style tournament.  They lost in the first round, rebounded in the second round but were eliminated in the third round.  The team also competed in the Region 2C sub-region, but were defeated by Chatham and Buckingham who moved on to the region championship. 

    Spring Sports can begin practicing/try-outs on Feb. 18th.  Spring sports teams include JV and Varsity Baseball, JV and Varsity Softball, JV and Varsity Girls Soccer, JV and Varsity Boys Soccer, Outdoor Track, and Girls and Boys Tennis.  The regular season games can begin the week of March 11th.   In order to participate in spring sports, a completed VHSL physical form must be on file with the Athletic Director or Athletic Trainer, or must be turned-in to the head coach at the time of tryouts.  Along with the physical, the student athlete must be academically eligible to participate.  This means they must have passed 3 out of 4 block classes (or the equivalent for whole year classes) in the FIRST SEMESTER


    We are offering the following season passes for purchase for this school year’s home, regular season athletic events. These passes do not include tournament, conference 37, Regional or State games.
    • ACPS Student Athletic Pass- $25 (Primary, Elementary, Middle, and High School Students will have the opportunity to purchase this optional pass that will admit them to home regular season athletic contests.)

    ***Please note that SWIPE cards (HS) and ID’s (MS) will no longer admit students to athletic contests*** 

    • Family Year - $175 (up to 4 members of current household - including students) - each additional pass $25            
    • Individual Year - $100 
    • Family Season - $100/season (up to 4 members of current household - including students) - each additional pass $25 
    • Individual Season - $40/season (fall, winter, spring) 
    • Senior Citizen - Complimentary - Ages 62 and Over  (This is a lifetime pass, so if you received a pass for the 2013-14 season, you do not need to apply for a new one this year.)
