Homebound instruction is designed to provide continuity of educational services between the classroom and the home for students whose medical needs may not allow regular/daily school attendance for a limited time period. Homebound services may be used to supplement the instructional program for students with health impairments. In order to be considered for homebound instruction, students must be enrolled in a Virginia public school. It is essential to note that homebound instruction is not intended to replace in-person instruction or services and is, by design, temporary.

A student’s inability to regularly attend school for medical reasons (physical and/or psychiatric) must be certified by a licensed physician or licensed clinical psychologist.

To discuss the potential for homebound services, please contact our Director of Curriculum, Instruction, & CTE, Dr. Cheryl Servis. If medical certification is acquired, it must also be approved (in advance) at the School Board Office prior to the start of any homebound services.
