Bullying can threaten students’ physical and emotional safety at school and can negatively impact their ability to learn. The best way to address bullying is to stop it before it starts.

The Bullying Hotline Number (434) 352-2071 is available for anonymous reporting via phone call. For reporting via text message, please send messages to (434) 609-7146.

Students are encouraged to report all incidences of bullying that they observe even if they are not a direct victim of the abuse.

In bad weather and other emergencies, Appomattox County Public Schools (ACPS) notifies parents and staff about the status of school schedules in several ways. We utilize the following TV and radio stations:

We also use our division webpage, our mobile app, and an automated communication system to deliver phone calls and text messages regarding the status of school delays and closings. Be sure to contact the school if the phone number changes.

Appomattox County Public Schools have developed an extensive crisis management plan which will be evaluated annually to improve school readiness in the event of actual crisis. The Crisis plan covers all aspects of Crisis management and includes drills and procedures that the faculty and staff follow, depending on the specific Crisis.

Appomattox County Public Schools strive to offer the safest educational environment for all faculty and staff. ACPS takes pride in keeping fees to a minimum for students and their families.

VDH recommends that children are immunized in accordance with the 2026 American Academy of Pediatrics Childhood and Adolescent Immunization Schedule. Vaccines are still required for school entry and remain the same as listed in the Code of Virginia. Visit our School Requirements page for more information.  Medical and Religious Exemptions should be submitted to the school. 

Appomattox County Public Schools takes internet safety seriously. Appomattox County works diligently to provide a safe internet experience for your child and continues to provide educational information to help educate its users to the dangers of the internet. Through-out the school year, the Appomattox Technology department will offer training and informational sessions to aid parents seeking more information to protect their child while using the internet at home. Please contact your building level administration for more information.

ACPS filters all internet content for the safety of their students and staff for on-premise and take home devices. Our filtering solution blocks: sexually explicit sites, violent sites, and social networking sites plus other non-educational sites. Our technology personnel are reviewing sites daily. Our belief is safety first.

We require all students/staff and users of our internet or network to sign an acceptable use policy.

You can also stop by any office to get a printed form before going to your doctor's office. All Pre-K and Kindergarten students MUST have an updated physical form and immunization record on file with APS before they will be allowed to attend the first day of school.
