Appomattox County Public Schools is proud to announce Mrs. Kimberly Jones as the 2023-2024 Division Teacher of the Year!

Mrs. Jones is a teacher at Appomattox Elementary School (AES) where she currently teachers 5th grade Reading/Language Arts.

She earned her post-secondary degrees from James Madison University and Longwood University.  Mrs. Jones began her career in education in 1990 in Appomattox, leaving Appomattox to work in Lynchburg City Schools,  then returning back to Appomattox.  Mrs. Jones is an enthusiastic teacher who loves life, people, and learning.  She ensures that her classroom is structured and disciplined, yet warm, inviting, and a safe place to learn.  Mrs. Jones works diligently to provide rigorous lessons that demand students' attention.

For thirty-four years Mrs. Jones has been the "children's literature connoisseur".  She believes good literature is "the bridge" connecting a teacher with students.  Mrs. Jones is, without question, a teacher of integrity, admired by her students and colleagues.  

Mrs. Jones will be nominated for the Region 8 Teacher of the Year which will be announced in the spring.
