Appomattox County High and Middle school Cross Country teams raced at Gretna High School on Thursday in one of the strangest meets to date! In one race someone was
'helping' by sending the ladies the wrong way and telling them they were DQ'd for going the wrong way and in another we had the pleasure of running a race that was more than a mile shorter than usual.
Drama aside, we had plenty to be excited about. Elly Nash easily won the ladies 5K race in 21:07 -- a full minute before anyone else showed up at the finish -- and Lucas Hunter led our varsity boys coming in fourth in a time of 12:48. (So what if the race was shorter than usual. We still get credit for kicking butt.)
Our middle school girls were led by Elizabeth Hunter who crossed the 3K finish line in 19th in a time of 23:35, followed closely by Kinsley Warner in 20th in a time of 23:56.
Ryder Hamilton once again led the middle school boys crew winning 3rd place in a time of 14:10 before racing off for a baseball game!
