JV and Varsity Sideline Basketball Cheer Tryouts 2023 📣📣Tryouts are open to: Any student interested in trying out for cheer. When: Monday, October 30th - practice to learn the material (3:45-6:00 PM) Wednesday, November 1st - Tryouts (4:00 PM) Where: ACHS Cafeteria On November 1st - Please wear Navy shorts, White shirt, Cheer bow and Athletic shoes.📣📣

👟👟The Appomattox Running Raiders will have sign-ups on October 31st for any student interested in joining the indoor track team. Location will be in the teacher's work room during 1st and 2nd lunch.👟👟 The official first practice will start Monday, November 6th. Meet at the track 3:30pm. You must have a current VHSL physical to attend practice!

👟Congratulations to the boys’ and girls’ Cross-Country teams who competed at the district meet in Altavista on Wednesday. The girls team finished 2nd overall and the boys finished 4th overall.👟 👟The girl’s team was led by Madison Martin who placed 2nd overall in a time of 21:31 over the 5K course. She was followed by Mariam Robindolph: 22:54, 5th overall; Marissa Perry: 26:29; Julie Goodman: 27:57 and Bella Perry: 30:20. Madison and Mariam earned All District honors by placing in the top 15 finishers.👟 👟The boys’ team was led by Clay Hamilton placing 3rd overall in a time of 18:46, followed by Christain Goodman placing 10th overall in a time of 19:59, Ryan Gheen: 22:42, David Owen:25:51, Matthew Thomas: 28:02 and DJ Perry: 29:27. Clay and Christain earned All District honors by placing in the top 15 finishers. 👟 👟The teams will compete again next Wednesday in the Regional Meet in Salem.👟

Congratulations to Madison Martin who placed 1st overall female in the Deep Hollow 5K on Saturday. She finished the course in a time of 23:33

Appomattox Varsity Raiders defeated The William Campbell Generals 47-17.

Congratulations to the following ACHS Cross Country runners who competed in the Metro Inv. in Danville on Wednesday. The girl’s team was led by Madison Martin who completed the 5k course in a personal best time for the season to date at 20:54 placing 3rd overall. She was followed by Mariam Robindolph who placed 6th overall in a time of 21:36. Marissa Perry just missed out on a medal placing 17th overall in a PR of 24:32, she was followed by Julie Goodman with a PR of 25:16 and Bella Perry with a PR of 27:43. The team placed 4th overall. The boy’s team was led by Clay Hamilton who placed 4th overall in a time of 18:35, he was followed by Christian Goodman: 19:53, Ryan Gheen: 21:45, David Owen with a PR of 23:50, DJ Perry with a PR of 24:25, Colin Swing with a PR of 25:12 and Matthew Thomas with a PR of 27:27. The team placed 7th overall.

Next week we will celebrate Red Ribbon Week. This is a week where we support one another to not participate in drugs. There is a dress up theme each day of the week. All participants must follow the school dress code. Monday October 23rd: Sock it to Drugs! Wear crazy socks Tuesday October 24: Team up Against Drugs! Wear your favorite sports team jersey. Wednesday October 25: Don't get mixed up in drugs! Wear mismatched clothes. Thursday October 26: I dream of a drug free world! Wear pajamas Friday October 27: Lei off drugs! Wear something Hawaiian. We will be giving out lei's upon your arrival to school.

Marium Robindoph placed 2nd overall, also with a PR for the season of 21:26, and Julie Goodman also had a PR of 25:42. Clay Hamilton led the boys team placing 3rd overall in a time of 18:37, he was followed by Christain Goodman who also had a PR of 19:53, Ryan Gheen: 21:50, David Owen 24:13, DJ Perry: 26:29 and Matthew Thomas: 30:54. The team will compete again next week at the Metro Invitational in Danville.

Congratulations to the Cross-Country team athletes who competed at Nelson yesterday. Clay Hamilton placed 2nd overall in a time of 18:32 over the 5K course. He was followed by Ryan Gheen: 21:43, Christian Goodman: 22:30, David Owen: 24:27 and Matthew Thomas: 29:13. Madison Martin won the girls race in a time of 21:16, followed by Miriam Robindolph, Marissa Perry: 24:33, and Bella Perry: 28:35. The team will be competing again this Friday in the HOKA National Postal Competition.
