
Congratulations to the following Middle School runners who competed at the Fork Union Middle School Invitational on Saturday: Elly Nash won the girls 5,000 m race with a time of 20:29, she was followed by Reagan Wells: 26:31, Elizabeth Hunter: 29:39, Fayth Stough: 31:41 and Khloe Hodge: 33:31. The girls team placed 5th out of 7 teams. The boys team was led by Silas Hamilton who completed the 5,000 m course in a time of 21:06, followed by Ryder Hamilton: 21:07, Berkley Goin: 21:31, Wiley Hamilton: 24:53, William Owen: 25:01 and Sam Detwilder: 25:09.


Softball conditioning will be Wednesday October 4th from 4-5 at ACHS. Starting this week it is open to grades 6-12, must have a current VHSL physical to participate. Any AMS girl who plans to attend needs to see Coach Rawes BEFORE Wednesday so she can check physicals.

The AMS Football game vs. Altavista has been rescheduled for this evening, September 28th at 5:30 pm at Bragg Stadium.

Raiders, don't forget to go home and have your parents fill out the t-shirt order forms so you can bring them in with cash payment tomorrow morning. Sizes available are children's extra small to adult 4X ... the cost is $15, no matter what size! Get your grandmas and cousins and aunts and uncles to get one too so you can all wear them to the pink out games in October and November

Unfortunately, the football field is too soggy to get on. They are not able to get on it to cut or paint the field at this time. We will not be playing Altavista this evening.

Any female middle school student interested in Science and Technology Careers has the opportunity to visit the United States Naval Academy for a free STEM day next month. You will get the opportunity to participate in hands-on Science and Engineering activities using some of the most advanced technology there is. If interested, please see the Main Office to pick up a flyer with more information.

Students - just a heads up ... in the near future, all students who ride a bus will be receiving assigned seats.

Helllllooooo Raiders ..... this morning, September 21st, we kick off the Pink-Out T-Shirt Fundraiser. Homeroom teachers have order forms for you. Please take one home today. All orders are due no later thanTuesday, October 3rd. Turn all order forms with cash payment into your homeroom teachers.


The Appomattox Middle and High Schools competed at the Fork Union Invitational Meet on Saturday, September 16th. Elly Nash dominated the middle school girls 2500m girls race, placing 1st overall in a time of 9:24. She was followed by Olivia Tucker: 11:34, Caroline Swing: 12:26, Elizabeth Hunter: 12:52, and Khloe Hodge: 14:33. The team placed 8th overall out of 10 teams.
Lucas Hunter led the boys team placing 2nd overall in the boys 2500m in a time of 8:59. He was followed by Silas Hamilton: 9:55, Berkley Goin: 9:56, Connor McDonough: 11:01, William Owen: 11:11, Sam Detwiler: 11:19, and Elijah Zug: 12:29. The team placed 4th overall out of 13 teams.

AMS partnered with ACHS FFA to collect food donations for our community. The AMS Goal was 300 items. AMS classes surpassed this goal by collecting 569 items! The donations were taken to St. Anne's Episcopal Church for their community food bank. The winning class was Mrs. Epling's class, who received an ice cream party! AMS FFA would like to thank all who participated in this food drive.
